What series have been a success and which ones did not achieve the expected impact is information that platforms do not always provide, especially in the case of failures. Since 2023, Netflix has published a report twice a year with viewership data for almost all of its content. This information, which from 2027 will only be provided once a year, allows for breaking down details and checking not only which titles have been the most watched, but also those that did not meet expectations.

Judging by the data from the first half of 2026, published a few days ago, these have not been Netflix’s best six months, and even less so the second quarter, but the platform already suspected it. In any case, they assure that the number of hours their content has been watched has grown by 2%, above the 1.5% it grew in the same period in 2025. However, the 10 series that lead the list of the most watched of the semester worldwide add up to 582 million views in total. The 10 most watched titles in the second half of 2025 exceeded 680 million views, and those from the first half of that year even surpassed 710 million. It was a period in which Netflix encountered the phenomenon of Adolescence and Squid Game returned. So far in 2026, only the thriller Él y ella and the fourth season of Bridgerton have been able to exceed 100 million views.

Él y ella (104 million views), the fourth season of Bridgerton (100 million),I’ll Find You (64 million), the fifth season of Stranger Things (56 million) and On the Run (50 million) are the five series that top the list, two of them from the mind of Harlan Coben. To calculate the number of views, they divide the total hours played by the total minutes the season lasts. The top 10 is completed by the Korean This is How You’ll Learn (48 million), the second season of One Piece (47 million), The Fire of Revenge (40 million), the children’s phenomenon Ms. Rachel (37 million) and The Night Agent (36 million).

The report highlights that one third of total views are non-English content, with South Korea, Japan, and Spain leading the way. As expected, at the top of the Spanish list is Berlin and the Lady with the Ermine, which with 27.6 million views ranked 23rd globally. In addition, it boosted the first season, which in this semester has added 5.8 million views. The second place in the Spanish ranking went to That Night, with 11.9 million views. It is followed by Oasis with 10.3 million, but the Bambú Producciones youth series premiered on June 19 and only data up to June 30 is collected here, so it should still grow. Salvador (9.6 million) is in fourth place. And, among the premieres of these six months, it is followed by the fifth season of Alpha Males (7.5 million) and the second season of Clans (6.4 million).

To contextualize a bit, we can look at last year’s figures. The second season of Berlín, the most watched this semester, had fewer views than The Atomic Shelter in 2025 (28.2 million), a series whose cancellation was probably more due to its budget than this data. It also fell short of the success of the first season of Berlín, which accumulated more than 50 million views in its first four weeks. Olympus achieved 23 million views, and Manual for Young Ladies, 18.2. None will have more episodes. However, Clans, with 6.4 million, still has another season left.

A separate case is that of Money Heist, which nine years after its premiere on Antena 3 and five after its finale on Netflix, continues to gain followers. Its five seasons have achieved 32.7 million views. Only the first season of Money Heist, with 8.8 million views, has had more reproductions in these six months than premieres such as the animated spin-off of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 (8.3 million) or the British How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (7.7 million).

Another Spanish title that has made noise in recent weeks on the platform has been Losing Judgment, from Atresmedia, where it was first seen on Atresplayer and then openly on Antena 3. In this semester, it has added 5.3 million views to its particular account thanks to its incorporation into Netflix. However, it is far from the phenomenon that Ángela was in 2025, when the Atresmedia series achieved 35.7 million views on the American platform.

Two Spanish series that premiered at the end of 2025 have also received many new viewers this semester. City of Shadows, premiered on December 12, 2025, and which had 10.2 million views until the end of the year, has added another 4.4 million. For its part, Innate, premiered on December 23 only in Spain and which then had 1.2 million views, has achieved another 1.6 million reproductions.

Outside of fiction, two Spanish true crime series have stood out this semester: The Predator of Seville obtained 12.8 million views, which would place it in second place among Spanish series if we include fiction and non-fiction; and The TikTok Killer also had a notable reception with 10.1 million views. Both were well above the documentary series about Rafa Nadal, with 5.4 million.

Another aspect that Netflix highlights is how the launch of a new season boosts viewership of previous installments. For example, the fourth season of Bridgerton tripled the views of previous seasons when compared to the data from the previous semester. Adding all installments of the series and Queen Charlotte, the franchise achieved 180 million views in the first half of the year. Other series that experienced this rebound were One Piece (69 million views for the series as a whole), The Night Agent (63 million in total), Virgin River (54 million in total) and The Lincoln Lawyer (59 million). Above all these was Stranger Things: adding its five seasons, it achieves almost 150 million reproductions so far this year. Among the Spanish series, beyond the phenomenon of Money Heist, Elite still holds its own, and its eight seasons accumulated a total of 10.8 million views, even without new episodes for two years.
