A 74-year-old man was hit while crossing Avenida de América “in an area not designated for pedestrians,” according to Emergencias Madrid. The fatal hit-and-run occurred near number 4 of that avenue around eleven o’clock on Wednesday night. Samur-Protección Civil has confirmed the death.
As a result of the impact against the car, the man suffered “very serious injuries” to his upper and lower limbs, chest, and abdomen, as well as a severe traumatic brain injury. The man was in cardiopulmonary arrest.
The Samur teams performed CPR maneuvers for 40 minutes but were unable to reverse the arrest and ultimately confirmed the death.

A Samur-PC psychologist attended to the vehicle driver. The Judicial Traffic Unit of the Madrid Municipal Police has taken charge of the investigation and is conducting the report.
