Two jackpot winners of ‘Pasapalabra’ will be the first contestants of ‘Rueda la letra’: Lilit Manukyan and Fran González

Little by little more details are being revealed about what Rueda la letra will be like, the contest that Telecinco is preparing with the famous Rosco as the final test. A few days ago, it showed in a preview what the set of the program presented by Carlos Sobera would be like, and now it has revealed more details that give an idea of the appearance and dynamics of the contest.

Fran González and Lilit Manukyan, both jackpot winners of Pasapalabra and well-known faces to quiz show fans, will be the first two participants of the program, which will start with an initial jackpot of 200,000 euros. The exact mechanics of the contest have not yet been revealed, but the preview already suggests that it will have various challenges, some of them musical, faced by two teams made up of a contestant and two celebrity guests, a format that strongly resembles Pasapalabra. The celebrity assistants for the first show will be actor Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera, actor Iván Sánchez, and model and actress Laura Sánchez.

This short video also shows how the contestants will be positioned in the final test, which will be called La Rueda (the program cannot use the name Rosco because it is owned, like Pasapalabra, by ITV): the participants will be placed on a large stage revealed behind a big screen, standing behind two lecterns, one with blue light and the other purple. The set, semicircular in shape and with an audience, features large luminous panels and an aesthetic that also recalls the Antena 3 contest.

Many details remain to be resolved. Besides the exact mechanics of the contest, the premiere date is unknown but expected to be imminent. The broadcast time has also not been announced: if it directly competes with Pasapalabra, Telecinco will have to find a new slot for ¡Allá tú!

It is striking that the first two contestants of Rueda la letra are two charismatic winners of Pasapalabra, a clear statement of intent. Fran González won a jackpot of 1,542,000 euros in 2019 after 168 episodes. Lilit Manukyan, originally from Armenia, was crowned on the show in 2014 when, after only 37 episodes, she took home 318,000 euros from the jackpot. More recently, Lilit has been one of the hunters on TVE’s El cazador.

The production of Rueda la letra is handled by the network itself along with Bulldog TV, and the format has Rafa Guardiola as director. Guardiola has a long career as a quiz show director and was behind Pasapalabra on the network for more than a decade. This will be the return of the iconic Rosco to Telecinco after the sudden disappearance of Pasapalabra from its schedule in 2019 by court order.
