A total of 21 migrants of Moroccan nationality have been identified by the Civil Guard in recent hours in Ceuta for participating in a stone attack against a patrol of the Army and agents of the armed institute. The events occurred on Saturday night near El Trampolín beach, where the largest informal settlement was established after the massive entry on July 30 and 31. According to police sources, no injuries were reported in the incident nor was there any material damage. After their identification, those involved returned to Morocco “voluntarily.”
Ten days ago, another 12 Moroccans were arrested for a similar episode in the hamlet of Benzú, a coastal area of the autonomous city that mafias sometimes use to embark migrants who want to reach the peninsula.
Meanwhile, around 300 people demonstrated this Sunday in the autonomous city under the slogan “we demand solutions and expulsion.” Gathered in the Plaza de los Reyes, in front of the Government Delegation headquarters, the people of Ceuta, dressed with flags of Spain, Ceuta, and the European Union, called for the resignation of the Government Delegate. Their intention is to tour the city, ending at the Moroccan border, where they will hold a sit-in. The demonstration began with the Spanish anthem and chants of “Ceuta is not for sale.”

Yesterday, the central government took control of the facilities of the Ceuta port to accommodate more than 1,000 migrants. The relocation had already been agreed upon by the city’s president, the Popular Party’s Juan Jesús Vivas, who backed out at the last moment. The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory and head of the unified command in charge of the crisis, Ángel Víctor Torres, has assured that the tents being installed at the port for migrant care are “temporary” and will be dismantled when the migrants “are returned.”
