A fire involving two trucks closes the A-3 motorway near Honrubia (Cuenca)

The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) reported this Monday the closure of the A-3 highway at Honrubia (Cuenca) due to an accident between two trucks that caused both vehicles to catch fire. The two drivers were injured in the accident, according to the 112 Emergency service of Castilla-La Mancha. For safety, the road in the decreasing direction of traffic is also closed.

The vehicles block both lanes of traffic at kilometer 170 in the direction of Madrid. An image captured by DGT cameras shows a large column of black smoke. The incident is already causing more than two kilometers of traffic jams.

The Civil Guard, as well as firefighters from Motilla del Palancar and several ambulances with emergency doctors, have been dispatched to the scene of the accident to attend to the injured. The Civil Guard has established a detour to national road III at kilometer 175, in Cañada Juncosa, until rejoining the highway in Honrubia.
