More than ninety businessmen from the city of Ceuta have organized an event to watch President Juan Jesús Vivas on Pablo Motos’ program, El Hormiguero. It will take place in the central Plaza de los Reyes, where the businessmen have funded the installation of a giant television screen to follow the interview, as well as other activities. They assure that aside from the authorization for the use of public space, the city government has not contributed financially to the event although “they give us a lot of encouragement because we do everything thinking about Ceuta, and they are aligned with us,” according to the leader of the initiative.
“There will be inflatable castles for the children, storytellers, DJ Poyo will come for the music, and we have also hired private security and chemical toilets,” explains Ernesto Valero. In addition, nearby establishments offer a 20% discount on consumptions for those who attend the event, and after the interview, they have also called for a “protest camp” for the neighbors.
In conversation with this newspaper, Valero explains that he started organizing it less than 24 hours ago, because the sector is “eager for Ceuta to get out of this pit whose bottom we cannot see,” he says. “We estimate that we will need 8,000 euros but the contribution is already at 20,000 euros, we have had to close the list of collaborating companies,” he adds. For now, he is contributing everything out of his own pocket and will later settle accounts with the rest, a list of 94 companies that includes organizations such as the Ceuta Chamber of Commerce to media like Ceutaaldia.com, as well as textile stores like Intimissimi or Bimba y Lola.
“Pedro Sánchez wants us to die, but I am going to die fighting. I will not allow us to be trampled on. He wants us to get used to rapes and daily stabbings,” denounces Valero, who assures that the goal of the event is to “unite all the Ceutans to support our president because the man is risking his life to support us all.” In contrast, he places the head of the Executive: “We see the malice of the president going to La Sexta tonight at the same time our president is going to El Hormiguero, that says very little about this man. He is using Ceuta so that there are no elections and to govern until 2030 or as long as he wants,” he denounces.
The place of the event, in front of the Government Delegation headquarters, is no coincidence. Since the massive crossing of migrants and particularly in recent weeks, that square continues to be the scene of protests and demonstrations by some Ceutan neighbors, to protest the management of President Sánchez in the Ceuta emergency.
