The Government has not managed to secure the support of the unions this time. The rejection has occurred regarding the public employment offer for the General State Administration (AGE) that the Executive intends to approve soon. The main public sector unions (CC OO, UGT, and CSIF) flatly rejected the government’s proposal to increase state staff this Wednesday, considering that it was not negotiated transparently and, furthermore, that it is a very insufficient amount that does not cover general needs and those of the immigrant regularization process in particular.
This was confirmed by sources from these unions after attending the meeting of the AGE General Negotiation Table, where government officials confirmed that this year’s offer will be “similar” to that of 2025 (about 27,000 positions), which was already rejected by these three unions due to its insufficiency.
CC OO has indicated that it will not approve the proposal, “because it is very far from the public service needs of citizens that the union identifies.” Furthermore, despite the unions expecting a proposal with job creation figures and their distribution on the table this Wednesday, Public Function officials did not provide them. For this reason, UGT has criticized that “the Administration still does not provide key information on the distribution of positions by territories, departments, bodies, and scales, which prevents a rigorous assessment of the proposal.”

The civil servants’ union CSIF has accused officials from the Secretary of State for Public Function, dependent on the ministry headed by Oscar López, of “hiding the public employment offer from the unions” despite the fact that “the Administration is overwhelmed by the extraordinary immigrant regularization process.”
