They were caught in the middle of the extraction process. In the early hours of February 11, a group of people was surprised in the midst of the work to extract the cocaine they had impregnated in a shipment of about seven tons of corn flour. The flour had arrived in Spain a few days earlier and they had already separated nine kilos of this narcotic substance, through a complex system, only accessible to those who were responsible for mixing it at the source. The shipment traveled distributed in bags of about 600 grams, with different labels, and was taken to an industrial warehouse in Gerindote, a town in Toledo with barely 2,800 inhabitants.

The discovery of this large laboratory occurred during an investigation, named Operation Sircan, carried out by the Civil Guard, along with the National Police and the Customs Surveillance Service. In total, 13 people have been arrested, including the leader of the criminal group and his partner, and the “cooks,” the people who traveled from Colombia with the task of separating the drug from the corn flour.
