A man fatally stabbed a woman on the street in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona) on Saturday morning. The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Joan Miró street, in a residential area near the Sant Joan de Déu hospital, very close to the entrance of Barcelona. According to various witnesses, the man attacked two other people, although sources in the case confirm that only one man was lightly injured, also by a stabbing weapon. The motivations of the attacker or his supposed relationship with the victim are currently unknown.
A call to the emergency number 112 alerted that a man had injured a woman on the street and fled. The Mossos d’Esquadra went to the scene and finally found the attacker, who threatened them with a knife. The officers then started a chase along Diagonal Avenue until they managed to arrest him in the Les Corts neighborhood of Barcelona. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has taken over the investigation, which is under judicial secrecy, according to a public note released by the Catalan police.
Emergency Medical System (SEM) teams also went to Joan Miró street in Esplugues, where they treated two people for the incident, according to this newspaper: a “young woman” (the deceased) and a 58-year-old man with minor arm injuries. The fatal victim had stab wounds to the neck, chest, and abdomen.
