At least three people have died and another twenty have been injured this Saturday in a bomb attack at a central restaurant in Moscow, according to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (CNA).

The explosion was caused by a homemade bomb carried by a woman, who tried to bring the device into the establishment, the Balzi Rossi restaurant, which is located near the capital’s zoo, the CNA specified.
Among the dead are the woman, a security guard, and one of the restaurant’s customers, where supposedly a general was celebrating a birthday party, according to several eyewitnesses who revealed this to the Telegram channel Astra.
The bomb was remotely activated around 8:00 p.m. local time (one hour less in mainland Spain) when the guard decided to check the suspicious contents of the package carried by a woman, supposedly a delivery person, according to the version published by the Russian newspaper Kommersant.
The explosion, which has caused injuries of varying severity to 21 people, according to official data, has forced the cancellation of a nighttime cycling tour through the city center, which has 13 million inhabitants.
Other independent sources consulted by the EFE agency have indicated that the explosion occurred on the restaurant’s terrace, located on the ground floor of one of Moscow’s seven Stalin-era skyscrapers, in Kudrinskaya Square. The party was taking place there, supposedly attended by public figures and deputies of the Duma, the chamber of deputies, who had arrived at the location in official vehicles.
Investigators and emergency services were working at the scene. The Russian state news agency RIA released a video showing heavily armed law enforcement officers at the scene, which has been cordoned off. Authorities have not provided the identities of the victims nor revealed who the suspects are.
