The police transferred on Friday about 1,700 immigrants who were staying on the Benítez and El Trampolín beaches to the camps set up in the port of Ceuta. The operation began early in the morning, when some images of disorder occurred. The Government expressed being “satisfied” with the operation and stated that it was “very complex,” because so many people had never been moved to a relocation site before. Meanwhile, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, criticized the Government’s management and declared from Melilla that “the Government is not capable of maintaining public order in a Spanish city.”
