EL PAÍS launches ConversIA: new dynamic subscription management system optimized by AI. It allows adapting the way content is presented to readers, in order to personalize each one’s experience. The new system makes real-time decisions based on each user’s behavior, improving access to the newspaper’s content.
Through artificial intelligence, and thanks to generative capabilities, the system enriches messages and value arguments, adapting them to the profile and behavior of each reader. In this way, the model evolves towards a smarter one, focused on accompanying the user in their relationship with the product and encouraging a higher level of reading, always respecting data protection and privacy legislation.
A decision engine analyzes each session individually, taking into account the user’s profile and reading context. From there, it prioritizes different access and consumption experiences, aiming to strengthen the relationship with the medium. The model is also continuously learning, allowing for progressive and sustained improvement

The project has been funded by the Secretariat of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, within the framework of the call for Grants for the integration of Artificial Intelligence in the value chains of media, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
With this initiative, EL PAÍS continues to bet on the use of artificial intelligence to offer a better experience to its readers and users. It has recently launched GuIA, a pioneering system with artificial intelligence that enriches the quality of news, automating certain mechanical tasks, such as content tagging or the selection of related news. It also has a conversational assistant, Vera EL PAÍS, which answers readers’ questions based on the contents of the newspaper’s historical archive.
