Grison, from ‘La revuelta’ to the contest ‘El escondite’: “The thing is that I am the host”

Marcos Martínez, better known as Grison, makes the leap to presenter. It will be with the program El escondite, a new family entertainment format with which the musician and collaborator will debut as a solo host. He announced it this Monday on La revuelta, the program in which he accompanies Ricardo Castella responding to David Broncano.

To announce it, he started the program hidden. A few minutes later he appeared in his usual place: “It’s to make you a promo. It’s to promote a program called El escondite,” he said before Broncano’s apparent bewilderment. “Is it that contest thing you’re going to do in summer,” the presenter replied. “It’s a game, hide, seek, seek, hide, that’s what the game is about. Now that UCO is in fashion, it’s the same thing,” he joked. “The thing is that I’m the presenter,” he finally clarified.

RTVE had already announced that it would launch a new format called El escondite, although it had not yet communicated who would be in charge of hosting it. The new family entertainment bet is the first international adaptation of The House of Hide and Seek, a program created by Talpa Studios and David Grifhorst and whose recordings will take place in the Netherlands.

In it, the contestants face a series of rounds and a final on a set that recreates a gigantic two-story house with more than 120 hiding places designed to make the classic game a television spectacle of enormous proportions. From the grand staircase to the kitchen, the rooms, the living room, and other additional areas, every corner is designed to immerse the contestants in the game and keep them in constant tension.

The program is announced as “a combination of suspense, humor, and strategy, where the multigenerational audience will follow with great fun every move of the contestants in real time.” The original contest aired late last year on the RTL 4 channel and the Videoland platform. There, six famous contestants faced a series of rounds where they tackled visual puzzles. Correct answers add money to their safe. Then they have 90 seconds to hide, while another player who is not hiding will have one minute to find one of their opponents. If they succeed, they steal the accumulated money and remain in the game. The found player is eliminated, and if the seeker finds no one, they are the one eliminated.
