Once again, Shakira will sing the official anthem of the Football World Cup. The song Dai Dai, performed by the Colombian artist alongside the Nigerian Burna Boy, has been chosen by FIFA as the official song of the 2026 Football World Cup, which will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This was announced this Thursday by the artist, together with FIFA, in a short video published on her social media, in which she previews some fragments of the song, which will be released on May 14.
In the video, recorded at the famous Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Shakira appears wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts, like the Brazil kit, and with several balls along with a group of dancers while singing some fragments of Dai Dai. The singer steps onto the Maracanã grass carrying a Trionda ball, the official one for the next World Cup, places it on the ground as if to start a play, and then the choreography of Dai Dai begins with her dancers, dressed in the colors of teams like Colombia, Argentina, or the United States.

“Oe, oe, oe,” the song begins, with a cheerful Caribbean rhythm and lyrics in English that refer to the belonging to a World Cup for everyone. The scenery is completed with four balls, those of the 2006 Germany, 2010 South Africa, and 2014 Brazil Football World Cups, plus the Trionda of North America 2026.

Shakira’s Waka Waka (This is Africa) was the anthem of the 2010 South Africa World Cup, which the Spanish team won. And four years later, the Colombian artist repeated with the song La La La at the 2014 Brazil World Cup. Meanwhile, her hit Hips Don’t Lie was a sensation in 2006 in Germany. The video, one minute and seven seconds long, ends with the phrase “We Are Ready.”
