American singer Taylor Momsen was hospitalized in Mexico City on Tuesday night due to complications from a venomous spider bite she suffered a few days ago. Through social media, the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless shared images from the hospital and thanked the doctors for the care she received.

So far, no further details about her health condition have been released; however, in the video she posted on Instagram, it can be seen that the reaction to the bite spread across her leg. Despite this, the actress has remained active on her social media and has not canceled her performance scheduled for Wednesday. “Today in the hospital and tomorrow the concert. The show must go on, see you tomorrow,” she wrote.

Momsen is visiting the city as her band was invited to open for AC/DC’s concerts in Mexico. The incident occurred last week, before one of their performances at the GNP Seguros Stadium, when she was bitten by a spider and received emergency medical assistance. “A huge spider decided to bite me and its venom really affected my system, so I had to go to the amazing doctors in Mexico to get a pretty strong injection before last night’s show… add it to the list!” she shared on social media.
In Mexico, only two spider genera are considered medically important because the potency of their venom is enough to affect health: Lactrodectus (black widows) and Loxosceles (recluse spiders).
This is not the first time Taylor Momsen — who rose to fame for her role as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl — has suffered an incident of this kind. In May 2024, the singer was bitten by a bat during a performance in Seville, Spain, and had to receive a couple of doses of rabies vaccine. Interestingly, the situation also coincided with the AC/DC tour. “Rock and roll moment. In Seville, during Witches Burn, a bat clung to my leg; at the moment I was singing and had no idea until the audience started screaming and pointing… yes, it bit me,” she revealed hours later on social media. The singer has faced both incidents with humor, even joking about the possibility of becoming Spider-Woman or Batgirl.
