The judge admits the Government as a plaintiff in the investigation into the mass entry into Ceuta

Judge María Tardón, instructor of the National Court, admitted this Wednesday the Government’s appearance as a private prosecution in the investigation opened for the irregular mass entry of migrants into Ceuta on July 30 and 31. The judge thus accepts the presence of the State Attorney’s Office in the investigation, considering the “Kingdom of Spain itself” as harmed, after concluding that there are indications that this episode constituted an “attack on national sovereignty, the independence and stability of the State, its territorial integrity, national defense, external security, and the stability of our Rule of Law.”

Tardón takes this step after giving the green light on Tuesday to the appearance of the autonomous city, governed by the PP. “In this case, the condition of being harmed undoubtedly applies, due to the serious facts that have had the city of Ceuta and its inhabitants as direct and immediate victims, in their freedom, the exercise of their rights, and the integrity of their persons and property,” argued the judge, who has also accepted the presence in the case of seven popular accusations: among them, the PP itself, the far-right party Vox, and the ultra-Catholic group Hazte Oír.

Last Monday, the instructor of the National Court decided to take on the investigation into the mass entry into Ceuta. “We are facing an allegedly criminal conduct committed abroad that has seriously attacked the territorial integrity of Spain, which is guaranteed in Article 2 of the Constitution,” Tardón stated.
