Two people have died and four others, including two minors, have been seriously injured in a shooting that took place in the Almerian municipality of El Ejido late this Monday. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the facts while deploying a large operation in the area. The shooter was arrested early this Tuesday after surrendering at the Local Police station. The two deceased are his parents.
Sources from the Civil Guard have reported that one of the injured minors is seven months old and is in critical condition. He is the son of the perpetrator. Another injured person is a two-year-old minor, while the other two injured, who are hospitalized, are a woman in serious condition and a 60-year-old man.
The 112 Andalucía Emergency Service received several calls around 11:15 p.m. on Monday alerting that several shots had been heard in the El Canalillo area, very close to Balanegra and within the municipality of El Ejido, according to sources from this agency. Numerous Local Police, National Police, and Civil Guard units, including members of the Rapid Action Group (GAR), were dispatched to the area and took charge of the investigation.

Medical personnel were also dispatched to the scene. They found two deceased individuals, who turned out to be the parents of the shooter. There were also four other seriously injured people who were taken to the Poniente and Torrecárdenas hospitals. Among them were two children, one of whom is the son of the arrested man. One of the adults is in the ICU.
The alleged shooter fled, although early this Tuesday he surrendered at the Local Police premises in El Ejido, according to Europa Press.
