Two independent traffic accidents leave two seriously injured this Wednesday in the streets of Madrid. On the one hand, a cyclist has been run over by a van on Santa Florencia street, in the Madrid district of Villaverde. Shortly after, a 20-year-old man on a scooter collided with a car in the San Blas district.
In the first incident, the man, about 80 years old, had previously fallen onto the road and was subsequently run over by the vehicle, becoming trapped underneath. The incident occurred around 11:45 AM and the Madrid City Firefighters had to rescue the cyclist from under the van.
“We stabilized the vehicle, as the person was under the van with the bicycle. Together with Samur, we carried out the extraction,” detailed one of the firefighters who participated in the operation.

Samur-Protección Civil paramedics attended to the man for several traumas, including a pelvic one and a leg fracture. After being stabilized, he was transferred conscious and in serious condition to a hospital.

The Madrid Municipal Police accompanied the medical convoy during the transfer and took charge of the report to clarify the circumstances of the hit-and-run. Samur-Protección Civil also attended to the van driver for an anxiety attack.
A seriously injured person in San Blas
Shortly after this hit-and-run, a collision occurred between a car and an electric scooter in the San Blas district, on Bulgaria street, at the corner of Aquitania. The incident happened shortly before 1:00 PM and a young man of about 20 years old, who was riding the scooter, was seriously injured, according to Emergencias Madrid.
The collision occurred when the car was leaving a parking space and caused a front-side collision, which resulted in the young man falling onto the road and suffering a severe traumatic brain injury and a femur fracture. When emergency services arrived at the scene, he had a low level of consciousness.
After being attended to and intubated at the scene, he was transferred by Samur-Protección Civil to La Paz Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition. A Samur-Protección Civil psychologist also assisted the car driver for an anxiety attack.
