Footballer Ferran Torres, the hero of the World Cup final with the goal that gave Spain victory and its second world champion title, will become the image and ambassador of the Valencian Community.
This has been announced by the Generalitat Valenciana, which reports that next Friday the president, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, and the athlete will sign a collaboration protocol.
The president of the Generalitat will receive Ferran Torres at 12:00 on Friday, “world champion with the Spanish national football team and one of the Valencian athletes with the greatest recognition and international projection,” they emphasize from the Presidency.
During the meeting, which will take place at the Palau de la Generalitat, both will sign a collaboration protocol for the footballer from Foios to become the image and ambassador of the Comunitat Valenciana.
The agreement aims to “project and promote the image of the Comunitat Valenciana nationally and internationally, through the joint development of institutional promotion actions, dissemination of the Comunitat Valenciana and highlighting its cultural, sports, social and territorial attractions,” the statement indicates.

From the autonomous administration, they emphasize that the football player “represents the sporting talent of the Comunitat Valenciana and has a wide international projection thanks to his professional career and his presence both in the Spanish national team and in elite football.”
Furthermore, they assert, Ferran Torres “personifies the triumph of constant work, effort, humility, resilience, and a deep pride in his roots, values that make sport one of the great hallmarks of the Comunitat Valenciana and contribute to projecting a dynamic, open, and hospitable territory,” they add.
Ferran is from the Valencian town of Foios, which awaits the player to pay him a personal tribute, starting at 6 PM on Friday. The town already displays a large banner with the slogan “Que gran és ser de Foios. Gràcies, Ferran!” on the facade of the town hall. “It symbolizes the pride of an entire town for a neighbor who has taken the name of Foios to the highest level of world football,” says the Councilor for Sports and Citizen Participation, Emma García.
