A man about 40 years old, according to the National Police, has been arrested on the morning of this Wednesday as the alleged perpetrator of some shots against the external walls of a school in the city of Granada that, ultimately, ended up entering through a window of the center and lightly injuring two minors. The minors realized that something had happened after feeling a certain burning sensation in the area where some of the pellets had hit them. The man fired up to seven of them at the school.
The events occurred on Tuesday morning, just after 10:30 a.m. At that time, someone armed with an air pistol fired ― from a certain distance, according to the Police ― at the private school Virgen de la Consolación, in the La Chana neighborhood. The lead projectiles reached a 2nd grade classroom, hitting one student in the face and another in the back, in both cases without serious consequences. “If another type of weapon had been used, a more powerful one and not pellets, we would have had a disaster in this school,” police sources consider. The officers also have the weapon in their possession.
From the beginning, and after ruling out that the shots came from inside the center, the officers have worked with the hypothesis that the shots originated from some of the neighboring houses facing the courtyard. Reality has finally confirmed that hypothesis.

Just over 24 hours after the incident, at noon this Wednesday, the officers arrested the responsible adult, who justified his actions the previous day arguing that the children were mocking his mother and insulting her. The home of this family could be seen from the schoolyard and, according to the now captured man, the children called her “bitch” and made fun of her and her age. The police are currently finishing the investigation and the detainee will possibly be charged with injuries and disturbing the peace.
This is not the first time this school has received shots on its facade. According to sources familiar with the previous case, the center also received shots on its outer wall a little over a year ago. However, the Police insist that that was “another story and other people,” although that incident remains unresolved.
